To help your TEAM’s rebounding, players need to focus on the skill of rebounding as an INDIVIDUAL.
What separates the players who pull down every rebound & the players who always seem to be out of position?
Great rebounders seek out & make contact with an opponent on the flight of the shot.
Poor rebounders wait & let the contact come to them.
Players who are the best rebounders find an opponent as soon as a shot has been taken & put a body on them. Whether that's a forearm or boxing out their opponent. Always make contact.
The reason this is effective is because it keeps the opponent as far away from the rim as possible & creates more space in front to grab the rebound off a missed shot. The closer you are to the hoop the more aggressive you have to be in creating space.
Poor rebounders will simply turn and look at the rim or watch the basketball in flight after a shot.
It hurts a team when you do that SO ………….DON’T DO THAT.
