For a breakout dribble to be most efficient:

  1. Push and chase—don’t dribble the ball at your feet.

  2. Use rolling crossovers—don’t keep the ball in your same hand.

  3. Settle stop with back breaks—regardless of how fast you’re going.

For a breakout dribble to be most effective:

  1. Sneak a peek before you get the ball—don’t get caught by surprise.

  2. Get your eyes to the rim—before you turn and go.

  3. Sweep and breakout with whichever hand is closest to where you’re going.
